Keuda Vocational College

Keuda Vocational College supports regional development and local education by providing qualified vocational education in the region. The participating local government districts are Järvenpää, Kerava, Mäntsälä, Nurmijärvi, Pornainen, Sipoo and Tuusula. There are 200 000 inhabitants living in these municipalities. The area is situated between 30 - 70 kilometres to the north of Helsinki.

Keuda Vocational College operates in 10 establishments and represents a wide variety of secondary vocational education. Our establishments contain 5000 students in vocational education, 1200 of them studying in apprenticeship training. Our staff amounts to 460 persons including 300 teachers.

Keuda Apprenticeship Training Centre

Apprenticeship training is one form of vocational education and training at the secondary level. Of the total training about 80 percent takes place in the workplace including private entrepreneurs. Keuda Apprenticeship centre, some 30 km north of Helsinki, organizes this training through work. The centre also provides training for tutors and mentors as well as a supplementary Eurotutor-training as well.

Business and administration

Business and administration make up a very diverse sector. Those who have completed an upper secondary vocational qualification can work in customer services, sales, marketing, office work, information management and in information technology or data processing. The sector is influenced rapidly by changes in society, internationalisation and technological developments.

Culture

The culture sector provides experiences and services that enhance the quality of life. In the future, people competent in the culture sector will be needed to work in the continuously changing media, as well as in more traditional channels.

Welfare

The sector involves working with different people of different ages and from different cultures in a very diverse way in various nursing, care and educational assignments including also hairdressing. The sector organises also activities, provides diverse and communal leisure time services for people of different ages and promotes the benefits of healthy exercise.

Natural resources and environment

People in this sector work in agriculture and forestry or have other livelihoods close to nature. The change in the economic structure can already be seen in rural areas; the sector is currently facing the challenge of dealing with this change by looking for new operating methods and livelihoods and by creating new business opportunities.

Technology and transport

The technology and transport sector includes a total of 26 qualifications. They share a common background in technology and natural sciences and those who complete the qualifications find placements in the manufacturing industry, in high technology, small enterprises and transport.

Services

The sector educates competent people in tourism, institutional kitchens, restaurants, hotels, ships, household services, consumer services, cleaning and textile care. All these fields are characterised by production of services as part of customers everyday lives, special occasions and leisure time.
